FAQs

We're here to answer your questions. Below you will find answers to some of the most common questions patients have regarding medical and surgical hair restoration treatment.

What causes hair loss?

Hair loss can occur due to a number of factors. The leading cause for both men and women is genetic. Such hair loss is called Androgenetic Alopecia, and occurs when hair follicles are genetically predisposed to be sensitive to the hormone DHT (dihydrostestosterone). DHT attacks the hair follicles, shortening the growth phase of the hair cycle and causing individual hairs to become progressively shorter and finer until they eventually disappear. For men, these genetically susceptible hair follicles are usually found on the front, top and crown of the scalp. This common pattern is referred to as male-pattern hair loss. Women, in contrast, tend to experience hair loss in a pattern that is more evenly balanced across the entire scalp. Genetic hair loss begins in adulthood and tends to be progressive over a person’s lifetime.

How long does a hair transplant last?

For most patients, Transplanted hairs last a lifetime.
